Spending time with your little one is great fun, but hours of baby talk or endless toddler questions can leave you craving a little grown-up company
The importance of a support network
Pregnancy is an exciting time as you look forward to life with your new baby, but the thought of leaving your job and work friends can also be daunting. Likewise, being at home with your baby is lovely, but there can be many long hours without any adult company. With a toddler around you certainly get more ‘chat’, but it’s natural to crave a bit of adult conversation from time to time.
The good news is that it helps a lot to hang out with other parents who understand, and sharing your experiences can be a great source of mutual support. It’s especially important if you’ve just moved to a new area, or even country. The even better news is that the Peanut app makes it easy to find like-minded mums and mums-to-be who live near you. So whether you just fancy a quick pit stop in a coffee shop, or the full-on fun of a soft-play date, there’s no need to go it alone!
All about Peanut
Peanut is the brainchild of mum Michelle Kennedy who found herself struggling to find other mums to talk to while working and looking after her little one. Having previously worked on dating apps Badoo and Bumble, Michelle decided the mum world needed something similar. She wanted to make parenthood a little less lonely and provide mums with a place where they could chat, meet up and share their experiences with one another. Since its launch, Peanut has built up a community of 300,000 mums and mums-to-be.
The app uses your GPS location to ‘discover’ nearby mums who share your interests. There’s the ability to start group chats, suggest and poll meet-up times, post and comment on photos, send invites and encourage conversation on topics beyond the everyday parent questions. From work and money to health and fitness, mums can post questions to the Peanut community under a range of topics.
